The Ask: To help design and facilitate a design thinking workshop at the 2014 IDSA National Conference for at risk foster children in a residential facility.

My Roles: Co-Designer, Co-Facilitator

Other Team Members: Doris Wells-Papanek of the Design Learning Network.

Phases: Contextual Inquiry, Personal Development, System Architecture Design, Industrial design and Interaction design of mobile and desktop experiences.

Project Length: 1 month prep, 2 hour workshop.

Challenges: Getting everyone up to speed quickly with a problem space they had very little experience in.

Workshop Description:

When designers actively collaborated with exceptional foster care practitioners from Helping Hand Home for Children. Their assignment was to co-develop a series of life-changing prototypes designed to empower foster children to develop the essential mental tools and strategies to become confident and creative problem solvers.
